First week on summer break recap

We had a nice first week on summer break, it started with some quiet days at home cleaning up before a busy weekend. Saturday we had Payton’s Ballet observation day , a day where parents, grandparents and friends can come watch their little ballerinas and see what they do in class. It is fun to watch Payton and see how far she has come and how much she has learned since started. She did a great job and I am so proud at how hard she works.

Sunday we headed down to Century Link Field for Family football fest with the Seahawks. It was a lot of fun , we went on a tour of the locker rooms, got to go on the field and do football drills and Payton got to learn a little dance routine with the Sea Gals ( her favorite part). We also got to see the Lombardi Trophy up close, it was pretty cool. The only think that I didn’t like is that there was so much stuff to do and they closed some things down early so we didn’t get autographs, the kids didn’t get balloon animals and that was sad since it was about kids and families it seems like they could have organized it better or at least had a sign that said that event closed early. Payton was disappointed she missed performing with the Sea gals since they didn’t announce it or post a time we didn’t know, over all it was a lot of fun and the kids were exhausted and fell asleep in on the ride home.

Monday we went to Willis Tucker park to cool off on the hot day. Payton went in the cool spray pad, Logan got ready then said, I don’t like wet things, so he played on the playground nearby. Later they played on the playground and in the sandbox.

Tuesday we went to Marina beach with Grandma Tucker for some sand castle building and cooling off on the super hot 90+ degree day. The kids built a cute little sand castle, collected shells, watched trains ( I think we saw 4 or 5) ferry boats go across to Kingston and back, and play in the water. Before we left we hit the playground and checked out the boats in the Marina.

Wednesday after an unsuccessful trip to Trader Joe's we headed to Daleway park with a small spray pad. The kids played on the playground and then Payton wanted to go play in the water. So after a quick wardrobe change she headed in and played while Logan ate Gold fish crackers and chatted with the mom next to us ( who had a son named Logan who was 4) He even went and touched some of the water the came up then stopped – he had been watching kids drink from it and try to catch it in their hands.

I finished my first book – A Week in Winter by Maeve Binchy, I love her writing and how it draws you in. I started reading her books after I went on a trip to England, Ireland and Wales.I loved Ireland it is such a beautiful place and I love reading her stories with characters you can’t help but love.
I also just finished the other book I was ready by Kate Morton an Australian author it is called Secret Keeper . It was the first book I have read by this author and I really loved it! During a family picnic at the  family’s farm in the English countryside, sixteen-year-old Laurel Nicolson witnesses a shocking crime, a crime that changes everything she knows about her mother, Dorothy. Fifty years later, Laurel and her siblings are meeting at the farm to celebrate Dorothy’s ninetieth birthday. Laurel realizes that this is her last chance to discover the truth about that long-ago day, she searches for answers that can only be found in Dorothy’s past. Piece by piece, she traces a secret history of three strangers from vastly different worlds thrown together in war-torn London:Dorothy, Vivien, and Jimmy—whose lives are forever after entwined. This book will keep you interested until the end with all the twist and turns in the story.
More adventures and reading to come next week ( plus a 4th of July post)
